How Krillion hints work
A good hint should narrow your search without ending it. Our Krillion hints follow that idea. The first step is about the question itself, so you know how much room there is to wander. The second step suggests a direction, such as moving from the obvious group to the quieter one beside it. Only the third and fourth steps say anything about the rarest answer, and they say as little as possible.
Open the steps in order. The later steps are locked until the earlier ones are open, so you cannot spoil yourself by accident. When you have opened all four, a link appears that takes you straight to that prompt on the answers today page.
Solving Krillion prompts without hints
Most prompts have a very large pool of acceptable answers, and the rare ones come from the edges. A few habits help. Say your first idea out loud and then set it aside, because it is probably what everyone else will type. Think about the category behind the prompt and choose a smaller group inside it. Then pick a member of that group that you know well, because confident knowledge beats a clever guess.
The first hint tells you whether the prompt is wide open or narrow. On a wide-open prompt, aim for something specific and slightly unusual. On a narrow prompt, accuracy matters more than creativity, so go for the most precise answer you are sure about.
If you want more practice with these skills, Krillion Unlimited lets you play as many rounds as you like and shows rarer answers after each one. The more rounds you play, the easier it becomes to spot where rare answers come from.
